Astra Theme Free Version Review: Our Honest Experience Without Paying

Astra is a paid WordPress plugin that offers many features, but this time we tried the free version of Astra, so we’ve compiled a review of it.

Strictly speaking, Astra doesn’t have a free version; we simply tried using Astra without paying for the premium features.

Tried Using Starter Templates with Astra Without Paying

With Astra, you can use site page templates to build your site’s design without paying for the premium features.

Using the Astra theme, we built a site from a design template. Here is the site:

Even the Free Version Allows Detailed Page Design Customization

After building the site from Astra’s Starter Templates, we customized the site design to make it more user-friendly.

Since we were using the free version, I assumed the customization options would be limited—but that was wrong. Even without paying, Astra allows you to specify design details from the header all the way down to the footer.

Many paid themes don’t let you edit the footer copyright, but Astra does. You can also configure the top site menu. For the page content itself, features like breadcrumb display and related post sections—which normally require plugins—are available in the free version, allowing you to create an SEO-friendly site design.

Things Only Available in the Paid Version

The following features are not available without the paid version:

  • Building more detailed site designs
  • Using some of the templates available in design templates when constructing the site

That said, the free site design templates were sufficiently robust, so unless you want to use a paid template for an online shop, the free version of Astra is more than enough.

Conclusion

We tried using Astra without paying for the premium version. Astra offers enough features even for free use, making it one of the recommended themes when choosing a theme without spending money.
